These expansion joints are made of one single bellows element with end connections either a weld-end or fixed flange and fitted with a system of articulated supports which allow for angular movement in one plane only.
Single hinged expansion joint absorbs angular movement in single plane. It is not used to absorb axial or lateral movement. Incase supports are provided with slotted holes, expansion joint can absorb also axial moevement, but cannot anymore resist pressure thrust.
